Maintaining Trust Post-discovery

Explorers are often the first people from the mining industry with whom local communities interact. This is a crucial phase in the life of a mining project where the tone of engagement and quality of relationships established can determine the success or otherwise of obtaining and maintaining social license to operate. The presentation will highlight the importance of establishing trust with local communities at the exploration stage, outline what explorers can do to generate collaborative relationships, share the work ICMM has done in this area along with examples of good and poor practice.
