Matt Mullins

Executive Consultant, Snowden Optiro

Matt is a London-based global mining executive and advisor with a track record of delivering material value through strategy, capital discipline and productivity. He is an Executive Consultant with Snowden Optiro and is a Director of Tecoma Strategies Limited. He advises mining companies, banks and lenders on focusing on growth, capital allocation, resource quality and investment risk across the globe. Prior to his current role as a consultant, Matt held senior positions in the mining industry including Head of Capital and Business Improvement at Arcelor Mittal, Vice President for Mineral Resource Development at BHP, Consulting Geologist for Randgold and Exploration (now Barrick) and Group Geologist for Severin Mining and Development. In his early career he worked as a mine geologist, as an exploration geologist, as a rock engineering researcher and as a mining analyst on the JSE. Matt is a Fellow of the GSSA (and ex-President), a Fellow of the SAIMM (and immediate past-Chair of the Ethics Committee) a Fellow of the SAIMM and a Fellow of the GSL. He has caired the SAMREC, SAMVAL and SAMCODES Committees. He is a 2026 recipient of the Rhodes University’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
